No one likes to think of themselves as a "vulnerable adult," but we know that adults over age 60, people with cancer or immune system problems, and people with underlying conditions such as asthma, COPD, diabetes, and heart disease are much more likely to need to be hospitalized or even to die from COVID-19.
The best defense is to practice good hand washing and strict social distancing.
To help with basic needs while keeping you safely away from dangerous germs, here are several resources available in the current situation:
Phelps County Senior Center
416 Garfield Street, Holdrege, NE 68949
11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
They are still preparing meals Monday-Friday (11:30 to noon). The center is closed but seniors can pull up to the middle door and the staff will run out and collect money or punch their card.
Meals on Wheels
Do you have contact information or more to add for Meals on Wheels? If so, please contact us.
Meals on Wheels is still preparing and distributing meals on its regular schedule.
Food Care Packages
Mindi Young is coordinating with Rotary to make sure that the senior members of our community are having their needs met. This is an evolving ministry, but for now, they are working on putting together care packages of food to be distributed.
